Questions, answered.
The things people ask most about SeedWallpaper — from the Bible translations to setting your first wallpaper.
The Bible text
Which Bible translations does the app use?
English: the World English Bible (WEB), which is the default, and the King James Version (KJV). Hungarian: the Károli Gáspár translation. Romanian: the Dumitru Cornilescu translation, 1924 edition, in current Romanian spelling. The Romanian text was converted to current spelling with a script — only the spelling changed, never the wording. If you spot a mistake, please let me know through the feedback form.
Why these translations?
All of them are in the public domain. That means the verses can be shown and shared freely, with no licence restrictions — which is also part of what keeps SeedWallpaper free and ad-free. They are also among the most widely read and trusted translations in each language: the King James and Károli Bibles have been read by generations, the 1924 Cornilescu is the classic Romanian Protestant Bible, and the World English Bible offers the same freedom in modern English. Many newer translations are copyrighted and cannot be used this way.
Can I switch to a different translation?
Yes. Open Settings → Reading preferences → Bible translation. The choice is saved for each app language, and the Android home-screen widget follows it too.
Can you add another translation?
Send a translation request through the feedback form. A translation can only be added if its licence allows it to be shown in the app.
How are verses paired with the photos?
Each photo is paired with a verse from a hand-picked list of well-known passages. You can choose a different verse for any wallpaper in the editor.
Using the app
Is SeedWallpaper free?
Yes. The app is free to download and use, and it has no ads. An optional supporter upgrade unlocks extra creative tools — more verse styles, the full font collection, custom colours, your own verse or quote and your own photos — and helps fund new photography and features.
How do I set a wallpaper?
Open a wallpaper and tap “Set wallpaper”. On Android the system dialog opens, where you choose the home screen, the lock screen or both. iPhone does not let apps change the wallpaper directly, so the share sheet opens instead: save the image, then open it in Photos and choose “Use as Wallpaper”.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. A starter set of wallpapers and verses is built into the app, so it works even on its first launch without a connection. Wallpapers you browse are kept in full resolution so they stay sharp offline — you can turn this off in Settings to save data and storage. New content needs a connection.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up. Your favourites, settings and verse-card edits are stored on your phone only.
Which languages are available?
English, Hungarian and Romanian. You can switch the app language anytime in Settings.
Is there a widget or a daily reminder?
On Android you can add a home-screen widget that shows the verse of the day. You can also turn on a gentle morning reminder with the daily verse in Settings.
Photos, sharing and privacy
Who takes the photos?
Every photo is taken by the person who builds the app, a hobby photographer. No image in SeedWallpaper is generated by AI.
Where were the photos taken?
Most of them in Transylvania, in Romania, where the app is made. Some are from Hungary, and a few from Croatia.
Can I share the wallpapers?
Yes — share them with friends and family or on social media, as long as it stays personal and non-commercial. Commercial use needs a separate licence; see the Terms of Use.
What data does the app collect?
Almost none. There are no accounts, no analytics and no ads. The only thing that reaches us is a message you choose to send through the feedback form. The Privacy Policy explains the details.
Is SeedWallpaper connected to a church or denomination?
No. It is an independent personal project, made for anyone who loves the Bible, whatever their church.
How can I support the project?
The supporter upgrade in the app, a donation, or simply telling a friend about SeedWallpaper all help. Feedback and ideas are just as welcome. On this site you can do that in the “Help This Seed Grow” section.
